DANCE/CHEER/GYMNASTICS

Dancers, cheerleaders and gymnasts
are Athletes, too!

Performers are always striving towards having higher legs in jumps and kicks, more rotations in their turns, prettier feet and even more turnout. Art is achieved by using extreme amounts of flexibility, strength and balance day in and day out. This repetition and consistency often leads dancers to develop compensations, such as muscle imbalances, which make them susceptible to overuse injuries. To avoid this, the key is to train your body before you develop any compensations and/or get injured!

Our Performance Optimization Programs provide a comprehensive movement analysis designed specifically for dancers to keep them healthy and performing at their peak! In our programs we will help you:

  1. Identify key areas of your body which may be inhibiting your ability to perform at an optimal level or advance to the next level.

  2. Prevent overuse injuries by identifying specific strength and flexibly problems affecting your movement

  3. Recover from an injury or surgery and return to dance with more efficiency and reduced risk of re-injury.

At Architech Sports and Physical Therapy we use our years of experience in managing injuries to educate performing artists on how to improve performance and stay healthy. These programs have been proven successful for artists on the main stage by protecting and lengthening their careers.

HOW WE DO IT

  1. PERFORMANCE OPTIMIZATION

Are you repeatedly getting similar corrections from your instructors? Do you have a performance goal to execute more turns, higher leg extension, and/or stronger jumps? When you push too hard, do you feel discomfort or lasting soreness? Performance optimization starts with a one-on-one analysis of movement quality by evaluating strength, flexibility, endurance, and dance-specific movement patterns. We will review your medical and nutrition history as well as personal performance goals. We will identify areas of your movement that are limiting your ability to perform at your peak. Our optimization program includes a customized treatment plan, recommendations for movement modifications and footwear, and exercise programs made specifically for your body and your performance goal.

2. POINTE READINESS ASSESSMENTS

Do you want to start pointe?!?
Around the age of 10-13, many young dancers eagerly await the day to start pointe! However, there is more to consider when beginning pointe than age and passion. Our Pointe Readiness Assessment will evaluate musculoskeletal maturity and movement quality to determine if it is recommended to begin pointe without great risk for injury. We will identify areas of your movement that will limit your success on pointe and provide a customized exercise plan for performance growth and the transition en pointe.
